Mostly those problems occur when the software used to open the CSV files is not configured to use a comma as a delimiter for the CSV format.


Configuring the Delimiter in GEGI


GEGI allows configuring your own delimiter that will be used during CSV file generation.

Access the configuration by opening the My Settings page in the Main menu tab and select the required value in the Export to CSV: Delimiter field. If the suggested options do not suit you, you can select the Other option and enter you delimiter manually.

Note: The default delimiter is Comma:

Excel


To open a CSV file correctly in Excel do the following:

  1. Select a cell where you want to insert the data from a CSV file.
  2. Open the Data tab in the main menu.
  3. Select the From Text item in the Get External Data section:


  4. Select the CSV file for import.
  5. You will see the Text Import Wizard where you can select the delimiter for opening the CSV file and see a preview.
    Make sure the selected delimiter is the same as the one used for CSV file generation in GEGI.
