What is GPA?

GPA stands for Grade Point Average. Grades for all courses are summed up and divided between the number of courses. Apart from grades, course credits can count in too. To calculate GPA with credits each course grade is multiplied by the grade for that credit. Then it is all summed up and divided by the total sum of credits.

More information about GPA can be found in the following article: http://www.back2college.com/gpa.htm.

GPA Calculation in GEGI

  • The Total Program GPA uses average course grades with Transcript Final Grade type = Grade (this means that the transcript should always show the course grade as A, B, C, D, F).
  • The courses with Transcript Final Grade type = Pass/Fail are not taken into the calculation.
  • The calculations include courses of the following types: Didactic, Prereq, and Clinical.
  • If a student has Absent for a course and his grade is positive (A, B, C), it is not included in the GPA calculation.
  • If a student has Absent from a course and his grade is negative (D, F) it, is included in the GPA calculation.
  • Any Finals Grades (A, B, C, D, F) entered manually are included in GPA calculation independently from other conditions.

GPA uses numeric values equivalent to letter grades.

  • A = 4.0  (90% - 100%)
  • B = 3.0  (80% - 89%)
  • C = 2.0  (75% - 79%)
  • D = 1.0  (65% - 74%)
  • F = 0.0 (0% - 64%)

The students in the ACTIVE stage will have their Total Program GPA shown as In Progress if there are no courses with Final Grade. The inactive stage will show N/A.

There is also the Overall GPA calculated automatically for all student’s programs.
