Case:

A student must get Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to be eligible for receiving FSA.

Problem:

The calculation of SAP for the programs with Clock Hours is against FSA rules.

Solution

Changed the calculation of SAP Rule completion for Clock Hours Programs:

  • The hours are taken from the courses with Is Final Grade and the final grade is not lower than the one set in the rule.
  • If Grade Components are not configured, then Is Final Grade and the grade itself are not checked but the hours are taken into account.
  • If a student has multiple Clinical Rotations assigned on a clinical course, one of the rotations should be set as Main CR. Otherwise, the rotations will not be taken into account.
  • To validate the SAP Rule is successfully met, % of Absent is calculated for all courses that are included in calculations.
  • The hours that a student has actually attended are taken into account for total hours.

The classes that have not been taken into account due to having low grade/no grade/no Is Final Grade/without Main CR (with multiple other CR's in the course) will not be displayed on the Student "Name": Satisfactory Academic Progress Details (Clock Hours) page:

Improved SAP PDF for Clock Hours rules. The Attendance Statistics section shows only those courses and hours that were used in the calculations and completely match the SAP Details report of a student.

The Satisfactory Academic Progress is moved from the Education menu to Financial Aid:
