SSN/ITIN
There is an ability to enter SSN or ITIN in every student’s profile on the Lead Details page.
The Social Security number (SSN) is a numerical identifier assigned to U.S. citizens and other residents to track income and determine benefits.
The Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a U.S. tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service. ITIN is issued to individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number, but who do not have or are not eligible to obtain an SSN.
GEGI automatically recognizes which number type is entered in accordance with the official requirements and applies corresponding titles when showing SSN/ITIN:
SSN Validation Rules
GEGI validates the entered SSN based on the Social Security Administration criteria and system requirements:
- Format: SSN must consist of exactly 9 digits and can be entered with hyphens, spaces, or without any separators.
- Number Restrictions: No group can contain all zeros. Additionally, the first group (area number) cannot be "666".
- Uniqueness: The SSN must not be assigned to any other student in the system.
Note: SSNs beginning with digit "9" are considered as Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) and follow different validation rules.
