TABLE OF CONTENTS
Information from Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) is used in the program configuration for defining the occupational categories that a student may qualify for depending on the results after completing the education. The information is also used in such reports as the Annual Reports: Data for School Performance Fact Sheet.
SOC Codes
The SOC values are defined on the Education → Settings → SOC Codes page:
SOC codes are organized into tiers (the SOC Group field):
- Major groups — the largest category containing the area of occupation.
- Minor groups — a more detailed category than major groups, includes occupation groups.
- Broad occupations — the next detalization tier, showing the actual occupations.
- Detailed occupations — a most detailed category with specific occupations and their duties (the SOC Definition field).
SOC codes are versioned by year. The Year field shows the year when the corresponding SOC code was published. The outdated versions will be marked accordingly in the Active field.
Configuring SOC Codes in Programs
The program settings allow one or multiple SOC code definitions that are applicable to the program:
At the same time, the main graduate’s qualification for that program is shown in the Main SOC Code field, and all additional — in Additional SOC Codes.
Using SOC Codes in Reports
The SOC codes are used in the Annual Reports: Data for School Performance Fact Sheet. The Main SOC Code from the program settings is used in this particular case.
